Today's Bettingzone Market News:

1305: Following his world season's best time in the 5000m, set in Oregon, William Hill have shaved Mo Farah's odds of winning gold in that event at the London Olympics from 2/1 to 7/4.

Phillips Idowu finished third in the triple jump and Hills make have pushed him out from 9/2 to 5/1 to win gold in London.

"A mixed day for Britain's medal hopefuls but both Mo and Phillips remain two of our hottest hopes for the summer," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.

Today's Bettingzone Market News:

1130: Usain Bolt's odds of winning the 100m at London 2012 are on the drift after his shock defeat in the Jamaican trials.
The reigning champion remains favourite is a best of 8/13 with Coral, while William Hill pushed him out to 8/15 from 4/9 in the aftermath of the race.

"Bolt's defeat has come as a shock, but after a poor start he was always playing catch up," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.
"There was no problem with his speed and for that reason, he remains our favourite, but it will not be as easy as it has been for him."

Victory went the way of current World Champion Yohan Blake who clocked the eighth fastest time in the history of the sport, and he's a standout 5/2 chance with Stan James and William Hill.

Tyson Gay and Justin Gatlin are 12/1 and 20/1 respectively with bodog, bet365 go 25s about Asafa Powell, and it's 50s bar.

I might go for Blake because if he can run the 8th fastest time in history then he's currently in good form. I know it could come down to 1/100th of seconds but id rather back a 5/2 shot than odds on in basically a 2 horse race

Hmmm. Usain Bolt got beat again by Yohan Blake but this time in the 200 metres.

Elsewhere...yesterday's Bettingzone Market News:

1730: Team GB's men dropped the baton in the European Championships 4x100m final and William Hill make them 10/1 to do the same in the Olympic Final.

Currently considered the fourth best relay team in the world, Hills still make GB 3/10 to fail to win a medal in London. They are 20/1 to win gold.

"It no longer comes as a surprise when news comes out that the men's 4x100m team have dropped the baton and we think it is more likely that they do so in the final of the Olympics than actually win gold," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly.

...and today's Bettingzone's Market Moves:

1230: William Hill are offering odds of 5/2 that Team Jamaica will win Gold, Silver and Bronze in the 100m at London 2012.
"The Jamaican sprint team is formidable and they have every chance of a clean sweep in the most prestigious event at the Olympic games," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.

After back-to-back defeats, Sky Bet go 7/10 that Usain Bolt wins the 100 metres and he is 4/7 to win the 200m with William Hill.

Usain Bolt's conqueror Yohan Blake is 2/1 to win 100m Gold with Stan James and it's 14/1 bar the pair.

After the announcement of who made it into 'Team GB', yesterday's Bettingzone Market News:

1650: Jessica Ennis to win heptathlon gold is considered Great Britain's best chance of athletics success at the Olympics this summer.

The GB athletics team was named on Tuesday with Ennis the only one of the 71 named regarded as odds-on to win gold with William Hill.

Ennis is 4/6 to claim the hepathlon crown in London according to the firm, although Sky Bet and Coral go 5/6.

Admittedly the prices Hill's have produced relate to individual events, so Mo Farah has two quotes as opposed to one. He is rated a 6/4 chance in the 5,000m and 2/1 to win the 10,000m, prices which actually make him more likely than Ennis to strike gold in the Olympic Stadium.

World 400m hurdles champion Dai Greene is 3/1 to reign in his event, former world triple jump king Phillips Idowu is a 7/2 shot, the same price as long jumper Greg Rutherford.

The Leeds-based firm offer evens that GB win seven or more medals in athletics. Fewer than seven is a 6/4 shot with exactly seven available at 4/1.

William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: "Following the tremendous performance of Team GB at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu when the squad returned home with seven medals, including two golds, we are expecting our team to outperform those results, making them evens to win more than seven medals in London."

As expected, Dwain Chambers was among those picked for the 100m

He is 2/1 to qualify for the final with Ladbrokes and 33/1 to win any medal.

This afternoon's Bettngzone Market News:

1540: Usain Bolt has drifted for glory in the 100 metres at the Olympics.

The defending champion's coach has confirmed Bolt will miss this month's Diamond League meet in Monaco due to a "slight problem" and his odds have been trimmed accordingly.

The best price you can get for Bolt to win is now 4/5 with Paddy Power.

Yohan Blake is the other main contender for the top prize and can be backed at 7/4.

"Bolt may have pulled out of Monaco but he is still the one to beat and if he is on fire come the time London 2012 is about the fastest man on earth will be the hardest man to catch," said Mark Young of William Hill, who make Bolt their 8/11 favourite.

Today's Bettingzone Market News:

1205: Christine Ohuruogu has been cut to retain her Olympic 400m title after an impressive win at Crystal Palace last night.
The British star is into a best of 17/2 (sportingbet) after running a season's best time of 50.42 seconds, beating reigning world champion Amantle Montsho in the process.

The reigning Olympic and former world champion has a habit of peaking at the right time and William Hill slashed her odds in from 16s to 7s.

American Sanya Richards-Ross is odds-on across the board to win gold. Ladbrokes will give you 5/6.

Javelin thrower Goldie Sayers was another to find her form at the Diamond League meeting, throwing a personal best of 66.17m.

She's 12/1 for Olympic gold with bodog.
