There are a million rumours mate, from stories that the chairman was telling him who to play and who not to play, to stories of a battle of wills between him and a group of senior players (Chris Martin would be one of them) and stand up rows in the dressing room.
My opinion -and I've said it from the start - is he's taken a team who were playing fast passing attacking football that was, in the main, winning them games and he's chucked all that out of the window in favour of tippy tappy Barcelona style fucking about where you have 99% possession of the football in a game but one shot on target because by the time you've got the fucker up the other end, the defence and everyone in front of them are in position and ready for you.
That doesn't make him a bad coach and, funnily enough, his style would better suit a Premiership team. The Championship is a different beast from any other kind of league in England and anywhere in the world. The best footballing side doesn't always win the game in any league in the world but in the Championship there are such a mixture of teams with skill (ex-premiership players and young players breaking through the ranks or on loan from premiership teams) pace, and pure fucking brute strength to overcome and any one team can beat any other on any given day.
You've only go to look at a team like Brighton. Challenging for promotion two years ago - battling relegation last year - challenging for promotion again this year. Is the team from last year really that much stronger that the one before or after? No. Fine margins.
Understanding the league and getting players who understand the league and the ability to read what's happening so that you can change the game as needed, that's the key. If most definitely is NOT playing the same style all the time and buying players who are exactly the same as the ones that you already have. As far as I can see, he didn't demonstrate any kind of tactical nouse whatsoever.
