Peter Taylor is 4/7; the next shortest is John Schofield (who? :thinking ) at 16/1

Any thoughts, anyone (rcgills?)?

This thread was the first I knew of it :embarassed I'm off to read up. Schofield was Allen's assistant.

Well Peter Taylor does seem to be the favourite, and he was apparently at the ground last weekend. There are suggestions though that he may just be seen as a temporary solution to get us through this season, while looking for someone else to take over as of next season.

Not sure what to make of the fact that Skybet have Mark Stimson (sacked after getting us relegated from League 1 a few years back, and his career has gone even further backwards since then) at 12/1 and Tony Pulis at 16/1 (given the circumstances under which he left us, you could probably add 3 or 4 zeros to the end of that price and it still wouldn't be value). Either they've not got a clue what they're on about, or they hope there's a few punters out there who remember Pulis used to be at Gillingham, know nothing of the reasons he left, and will chuck a few quid Skybet's way to give them some easy money.

Pulis now in to 10/1 second favourite on Skybet. That'll be the Pulis that Paul Scally described as "the most evil, despicable person I have ever worked with". The one who Scally sacked for gross misconduct and who then tried to blackmail the club/Scally :thinking

Aye that'll be him, some people have short memories when it suits.
As a fan RC would you have him back?

Well it is Peter Taylor, but only on an interim basis while Scally takes his time to decide who he wants permanently. Wouldn't be a major surprise if he ends up being appointed on a longer deal though, not least because we've got a relatively favourable looking run of games now (of the next 7 games, 5 are at home, we've only got 1 game against a side in the top 10, and 4 games against teams below us). Pick up a few results there and he'll be stating a case for the job on a permanent basis.

As for Pulis, Slick, I reckon I would have him back, although only without Scally. I'd say Pulis's problem was with Scally rather than with the club itself. Pulis came off worse in the battle between the two of them, but there's 2 sides to every story and Scally does seem a rather easy man to fall out with. If someone else bought out Scally, I wouldn't have anything against Pulis returning.
