Got my ticket and my coach seat booked for Saturday. Funnily enough I'm not in the slightest bit anxious about the match - more worried about what can go wrong between now and getting there (sickness bug/breaking down on the way to the coach/losing tickets/online coach ticket being invalid - all that sort of stuff). I'll start thinking about the actual game when I take my seat on the coach. Maybet I'm not worried because failure to get promoted will give me a nice big pay off to go into battle in the world cup with (money I'd be happy to lose, obviously). Could be a messy Saturday night if all goes well so I apologise in advance for any bollocks that I might post whilst bladdered.

Been to two play off finals, won one and lost one. Nothing better and nothing worse as, short of a FA or league cup final, this is as good as it gets (well - if you exclude going to Old Trafford and turning the cunts over).

Same as my own playoff record, and you're not wrong. 90 (or 120) minutes of pure suffering too until you get to the final whistle. Well, unless you manage to get 2 goals up with a minute plus stoppage time to go, in which case you can relax, as what could possibly go wrong :unsure

Good luck, look forward to seeing you posting bollocks on Saturday night. Incidentally, didn't the playoffs used to be League 2, then League 1, then the Championship? Has that been changed recently, or has it always been like that and I've just not noticed?

I've I had a pound/euro for every time I've answered that question this month mate, I'd be able to fly down to London with it:lol. They did always used to culminate with the most expensive football prize in the world on the bank holiday Monday, you're right. Then some bright spark pointed out that the international players would get an extra two days rest -or be able to join up with their world cup/Euro team mates earlier - if the game was played on the Saturday, so that's what happens every two years now. Not been happening long though I don't think.

Yeah, that and they get to play on the pitch in prime condition before those filthy lower league cloggers get their paws on it.

Good point :lol.

Re' the "what could possibly go wrong" comment, I still remember thAt match - I was decorating at the time - and it was one if the most exciting I've ever seem as a neutral. Well I say neutral, I did have a decent amount on City to be promoted so maybe not a neutral. Right up there with Arsenal clinching the title with Thomas's late late winner.

Who'd have thought then that that was only going to be the second most exciting finale to a season for City eh?

Had to feel for your chaps though.

Bearing in mind we'd never been in the Championship in our history at that point, everyone thought we'd done it. Then City got 1 back and they announced 5 minutes added on, you just knew what was coming :frown

Plenty of Gills fans I know have said they've never been able to watch the highlights of that game. I have, still gives me goosebumps now watching that second goal, absolutely superb play by Asaba with the holdup and then backheel to send Taylor through.

Still, the experience of that game made the following year when we beat Wigan all the sweeter.

And now Man City are champions of England, Tony Pulis is regarded as one of the best managers in the Premier League, Wigan have had a few good years in the Prem and won the FA Cup, and we're back where we were 15 years ago, in League One and with Peter Taylor back in charge. Hope he does as well this time round as he did the first time.

I remember that match as well, on hockey tour in Chester, with a team from Gillingham sitting in front of us. It was messy.
Never had the 'pleasure' of enduring a play-off final, but if we're not bought out before the end of the World Cup i guess the foundation could be there :unsure

Good luck, ODM. I've had your lot 3-1 & 3-2 crossed with Real the same score

Thanks Swoops. All I need now is for Punter to say he fancies them and I know they're definitely fucked.:ohwell

He PM'd me earlier to say he couldn't see anything other than a Derby walkover :unsure

I fancy Derby!

I cant call it tbh. Cases can be made for both and if somebody gave me a free £500 bet on it, i'd cock it up.

I'm going to be shouting on the Derby for ODM, Andre Wisdom and Brian Clough reasons though. And not to mention Kevin Hector reasons too.

Hope you have a top day ODM :thumb

Cheers mate. been awake since half 3- can't get back to sleep . gonna be a long day

i'm beginning to wonder if i've ever seen ODM & punter in the same room after he's posted at that time of the morning :unsure I was just going to work then :hissyfit

Bad day all round. I managed to get on possibly the only coach in London that broke down yesterday on the way back.

Unlucky ODM, i think ' fucking mugged' is the only way to describe yesterdays game.

I'm sure you can take some comfort from the big fat wad you won, as consolation.

:lol. It's the only thing that got me through the day mate. Fucking comical defending at the end to be honest but , yeah, mugged. I'd just said to the bloke next to me about 2 mins before and said "they might be down to ten but Zamora still fucking worries me".

I had to suffer coming back up the M1 when Leicester beat us and watch the cunts waving flags and scarves at every motorway bridge and I thought that was the pits but the coach breaking down at Wembley and having to stand at the bar in TGI Friday with a pint surrounded by celebrating QPR fans created a new low in footballing depression.

Now the question is what happens to A/ the manager (I see him ending up as West Ham manager before xmas) and B/ The team who are largely made up of on-loan talent. For example, Thorne was fucking excellent yesterday and Wisdom has been a star all season. Derby could have possibly made a bid for them with the extra Prem money but I see them going back to their clubs now (possibly to sell on in Thorne's case).

Could be a pivotal moment really. They were looking to emulate Southampton and Swansea and try to survive in the prem by playing football. Yesterday could halt everything. For me it all depends on whether they keep the wally with the brolly and, if not, who comes in next.

By the way Punt, I also had a decent win bet snatched away with the late equaliser in the Champs League game too. Of course, I didn't see that one as I was still travelling back on the replacement fucking coach.

:lol It's tough being a football supporter at times eh.

I think Derby will have the added pressure of being one of the favourites next season. I still think you can do it though, if you keep most of what and who you've got. And although as talented as he is i dont see us in a rush to get Wisdom back, especially if we want to keep an interest in Will Hughes.

I was thinking of getting on Derby until you said that about the loanees :unsure You were mugged but you didn't show much confidence in front of goal I thought. The positions were there but not really the clear chances if you see what I mean? Oh, for a flat cross :frown
