I’m not going down the Ante post route again this coming football season, well I am but I’m not getting so involved and most of it will be backing and laying as I go along. I'll shout a few up but I’ll not be logging them anywhere.


I’m going for a weekly combo’ bet instead this season, one that combines football and horse racing.

Here’s my plan of attack..

8 selections..

Selection 1 – Football, odds against.

Selection 2 – Football, odds against.

Selection 3 – Football, odds against.

Selection 4 – Football, odds on, world-wide banker.

Selection 5 – Horse.

Selection 6 – Horse.

Selection 7 – Horse.

Selection 8 – Horse.

Selections 4 to 8 – 20p Canadian = £5.20

Selections 1 to 8 – 56 x 10p Fivefolds = £5.60

Selections 1 to 8 – 8 x 10p Sevenfolds = 0.80p

Selections 1 to 8 – 1 x £1 Accumulator = £1


Over the course of the season this could well be a losing thread and I’m not nowhere near as confident of making money as I was when going down last season’s ante post route. I’m guessing I’ll need six up one Saturday and several small returns just to break even come May.
But unlike betting Ante post, here I have a very slim chance of winning between 4 and 25K, should I be lucky enough to get all 8 up. Very unlikely but you’ve got to be in it to win it etc.

I may not always have time to find all selections so I’ll be pinching a few Betnod and Horsenap tips from time to time.

I start this on the opening weekend of Premiership fixtures.

Good start with the first two, Midlander won @ 6/4, Toocoolforschool just won at 4/1. I took 14/1 last night but there were a couple of non runners this morning. Does that mean there's a rule 4 or a shortened price. Anybody know how it's worked out?

6/4, 10/1 and 14/1 in the 20p Canadian part. I was expecting to see £128 returned but i forgot about the non runners shortening the 14/1 price. Disappointing to only return £71.10 in the end.
